Humann attends Nevada Supreme Court Groundbreaking

Humann Building Solutions Principal Daniel Huard was honored to have been invited to be in attendance at the Nevada Supreme Court and Nevada Court of Appeals ceremonial groundbreaking in downtown Las Vegas on Tuesday October 27th, 2015.

Dignitaries in attendance included Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and Nevada Supreme Court Chief Justice James Hardesty who spoke during the ceremony. Dignitaries as well used ceremonial shovels to break the dirt at the site, which is at the corner of S. 4th Street and E. Clark Avenue in downtown Las Vegas.

“This new Purpose Designed Supreme Court facility has been designed to include many resource responsible features with an eye towards having a high level of sustainability, operability and user comfort.” responded Huard when asked to comment. The project is intended to achieve a high level GOLD LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification using the US Green Building Council’s LEED version 2009 rating system which Huard contributed to the development of. According to the project owner, Mr. Yohan Lowie, of LV Land Company, LLC and EHB Companies, the courthouse will be equipped with cutting edge technology to optimize its operational efficiency, “It may be the only LEED GOLD State Supreme Courthouse in the country,” Mr. Lowie said.

The building will house chambers for Nevada Supreme Court justices as well as a 3-member Appeals Court which was approved by Nevada voters in 2014. Importantly for a Supreme Court the building will also features a 72-seat courtroom where oral arguments will be conducted for Supreme Court and Appellant Court Cases.

Daniel Huard via an affiliate company contracted with Las Vegas Land Development to provide the Green Building Consulting Services for the project. Huard and Humann Building Solutions have served on many high profile projects as technical experts on a Developer Financed Governmental Entity projects. Huard provided that our working relationship with LV Land Development since rarely does one have the opportunity to the the Owners Representative for an internal Integrative Process for the development of such a landmark project. In addition to leading the project Humann Building Solutions, LLC registered the project for LEED Certification, will function as Commissioning Authority and additionally will represent the owner in seeking a Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy Partial Property Tax Abatement for the Facilities LEED Certification and its intended exemplary level of performance.
